Can I add someone on my membership other than my spouse and children?
No, other adults would need to purchase their own membership, to add children you must be their legal guardian. Grand children can not be added to the membership unless the grandparents have custody of the children.
Do we have memberships for low income families or children?
We have financial aid assistance for adult individuals or families at all of our YMCA locations. You would need to fill out financial aid forms and submit them submit to the YMCA's Membership Coordinator at the YMCA May Building (935 10th Avenue). The May Building memberships are for adults and families. Youth (18 and under) can apply for financial assistance at the Huntington High YMCA (917 9th Street). Youth, Senior, and Disability programs are emphasized at the Huntington High YMCA.
Is the YMCA connected to the YWCA?
The YMCA is a separate organization with its own Board of Director's and staff. The YWCA is a separate organization and has its own Board of Director's and staff. In some cities these two separate agencies my share the same building but in Huntington, WV each agency has its own facilities.
I'm a member of another YMCA, can I use your facility while I am in town?
If you are visiting the area and are a member of another YMCA and live 50 miles or more away from the Huntington YMCA, you may use the Huntington YMCA four times a month with no charge. If you are a college student attending a local college and are a member of your home town YMCA you can not use your YMCA membership and come to the Huntington YMCA; you must join the Huntington YMCA by either purchasing a semester membership or an annual membership. Tri County and Ashland YMCA members can use the Huntington YMCA with their membership card and pay a $4.00 daily fee.
If I moved to Huntington and I am a member of another YMCA will my membership transfer to Huntington YMCA?
No, you must cancel your membership at the other YMCA and join the Huntington YMCA. If you paid a building fee at your previous YMCA we will waive our building fee when you join, however, we must have a letter from your previous YMCA stating that you paid a building fee.
Can I get a membership on a month to month basis?
No, our memberships are annual memberships. With our membership contract you are agreeing to be a member for 12 consecutive months. The only exception to this is a summer membership (May thru August) or a semester membership for college students with current college ID (January thru April, May thru August, or September thru December).
I am only going to be living in Huntington or the Tri State Area for a short time and I do not want to pay for a whole year?
Sign up on the payment plan and we can cancel if you inform us and show proof that you are leaving the area or you have a valid medical reason (with doctor's letter).
Can I purchase a daily pass?
No, you must be a guest of a current Huntington YMCA member and you can only utilize this service twice in 12 months. There is a $10 daily guest pass fee for each guest.
What if I live in Florida for six months and in the Huntington area for six months, can I get a membership just for the time I am here?
No, you must purchase a yearly membership, but you can contact our office and put your membership on hold for up to three months once per year. When you return to Huntington you must contact the business office to reactivate your membership. If you would need any other exceptions, you must contact the Huntington YMCA Executive Director.
Can I purchase a membership just to use the pool?
No, we do not sell memberships for specific areas of the Huntington YMCA May Building, when you join you have access to all areas of the May Building.
What are the benefits of Fitlinxx?
We have introduced the FitLinxx “Fitness Software” Program to help you perform your exercise routine properly and track your workouts and progress. This will give your fitness instructor a communication tool to review your workouts and make suggestions to improve your routine.
The equipment integrates with the current Nautilus machines to track each and every rep and to ensure they are performed in the proper manner, and also hosts a web based component for logging outside the YMCA routines into your personal account. This is a free service to help you get more out of your membership.
